That means, study early in the evening, go to bed, get up early in the AM, watch the game, take a nap, then take my exam that afternoon. I have my US Soccer shirt on, and I am ready to see our women take the Cup once again. I remember exactly where I was in 1999 when Brandi Chastain hit the Game winning 5th goal in the shootout against China. Nil-nil all the way thru, then the goal keepers just couldn't block that onion sack. Doesn't matter though, USA won, and all of the sudden soccer grew in popularity across the country not only among girls, but boys as well. This is a young team that doesn't have the names like Chastain or Mia Hamm, but it does have two very key players returning from the 1999 team, forward and captain Kristine Lilly and goalkeeper Briana Scurry.

Man, I am looking forward to this way too much. Call it national pride.

Oh yea, the team the United States plays Friday morning is Sweden. I know it's the first game of the year and everyone is fired up, but this team seemed to have a different mindset; they were more intense. On the sidelines every player the camera showed a closeup of was simple "in the zone," even when Tulsa was losing. Players shouting "You haven't seen nothin' yet!" or "We're just getting started!"They're mentality was one that seemed failure would never be an option.

Hurry-up, No huddle:

I watched a lot of Arkansas football last year and I have seen a lot of Springdale High School football in years past, but I have never seen Guz Malzahn institute his offense quite like he did in Tulsa's first game last night... Not even as head coach at Springdale. While the Hurricane offense may need to work on the "hurry-up" part a little, they have the no huddle part down. The offense was very fun to watch. A third down direct snap to linebacker Chris Chamberlain for a first down really helped show that Malzahn has not lost his craftiness. The defense stepped things up in the second half, which was much needed.

I am positive Malzahn as a lot of trickery up his sleeve that no one, not even Houston Nutt, has seen yet. Get ready for an exciting year of football from the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

"We wore them down. Leave me some comments, I would love to read your feedback!

And I'll leave you with a video from back in my hometown:

2007 Big XII Football Predictions

The North

Nebraska
Kansas
Missouri
Iowa State
Colorado
Kansas State

The South

Oklahoma
Texas
Oklahoma State
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
Baylor

Sadly I see the Sugar Bears in the cellar again this season. I would really like to see them finish higher than 5th one of these year, but I don't think 2007 is that year.

Mangino is on the hotseat to get the Jayhawks to a bowl game. He has one of the best defensive backs in the nation with Aquib Talib. Quarterback spot is still in question.

I see Texas again winning this year's Red River Shootout, but their schedule is so tough this season, winning the South could be a stretch. If Oklahoma State finally figures out a way to beat the Longhorns in more than one half of play, OSU and UT could swap positions in the South standings as the Horns end the regular season trying to get out of a bonfire in College Station.

Daddy's boy is starting at the quarterback spot for the Buffs... Don't look for too much from them this year. Really looking forward to seeing CU face Colorado State this weekend.

"Statistically in football, if you win your opening game about 70 percent of the time you are going to have a winning season."

-Dan Hawkins

Welcome to Automic Sports!

Welcome to Automic Sports/ This is a new blog site created for simply blogging one's opinion on current events in the world of sports.
